
AMANDA ZANCO
CREATIVE DESIGNER | CRITICAL MEDIA RESEARCHER

Academic background:
I am a doctoral candidate in the Communication and Media Studies Program at the University of Calgary. My research centers on photography and migration, visual activism, feminist aesthetics and research-creation.
I have been awarded the Eyes High Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship.
I hold a Master's degree in Social Communication (approval with Honours-Summa cum laude) funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). During my Master's degree at Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, I was part of two research groups, Media, Art and Culture and Humanitarian Journalism and Media Interventions. I worked as a volunteer editor at the UNESCO Metodista Communication Department.
I was awarded the Santander Universities Ibero-America -International Scholarship during my undergraduate studies at UMESP (Advertising and Publicity). This award funded my exchanged program at Universidad de Burgos, Spain (Audiovisual Communication).
Artistic background:
I have a Classic Ballet Teacher certification from the Royal Academy of Dance Method (RAD) - Pre-primary, primary, and Grades 1, 2 & 3. I worked as a ballet teacher in the Social Project Ballet & Cia and Tum Tum Academia. I also worked on social projects at Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, group Aquarela (dance for the elderly) and Sentir (dance for children with disabilities).
I was a designer for Karen Lima Escola de Dança and Gatil Zanco.
Today, I design for my own company MISSCHÉ, and I create side artistic projects that involve design, photography, digital collaging, and poetry.
